+90 500 000 00 00Ebru is the Turkish-Islamic art of scattering paint on water, shaping it with a comb and a stylus, and transferring it to paper. It is on the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list.
In the workshop you first learn how the tragacanth bath is prepared and how the paints are thinned with ox gall. You then apply the battal, gelgit, şal and nightingale-nest patterns step by step.
In the final part you try floral ebru — tulips and carnations — and dry and take home the three pieces you like best. Our artist has more than 20 years of experience in ebru.

“Doing ebru felt like meditation. I framed my three pieces and hung them at home. The artist was genuinely very experienced.”
